Iris louisiana 'Gamecock'

Gamecock Iris

It is widely accepted that Iris louisana cultivars are developed from 5 main North American native species of Iris: I. brevicaulis, giganticaerulea, fulva, nelsonii, and hexagona. Gamecock forms sword-like foliage 2-3  tall growing from thick creeping rhizomes. The elegant flowers 3-5" across are usually dark purple and bloom from May to July.
