Anacharis

The Brazilian Waterweed or more commonly known as Anacharis is a non native submergent plant that is frequently sold at pet shops for use in aquariums. Anacharis has dense whorls of leafs along a central stem that can stretch up to 6’ or more when rooted to the bottom. It has become widely naturalized in Pennsylvania and has appeared on “do not sell list” (noxious weed list) in various states, please be aware of your state regulations regarding this and other non native plants before introducing them to any body of water.
