Drosera filiformis

Thread Leaf Sundew

Thread leaf sundew is one of our favorites here at the nursery, it grows erect leaves standing 5-9” tall with a reddish tinge. Its leaves are covered from top to bottom with globular glands of bug attracting dew. We have used this plant in the greenhouses instead of yellow sticky traps to catch various small nuisance insects like fungus gnats. It flowers mid summer with small pink flowers standing 3” above the foliage. Its native range includes Massachusetts south to Delaware and a small portion of Southern North Carolina. Thread-leaf Sundew is by far the showiest native sundew and a must for any bog garden.
