Juncus effusus, Soft rush, is a striking perennial wetland plant that grows up to 3' tall in full sun to part shade. The bright green cylindrical stems of Juncus effusus are fairly soft.  Stems taper to a bristle and remain green well into the winter. Soft rush is a clump forming perennial that adds a vertical accent like no other and with its deep root system, it helps to stabilize pond shores, stream banks, and vegetated swales.
