Tulbaghia violacea variegata is commonly known as Variegated Society Garlic because its leaves and bulbs are edible like garlic and chives but without the bad breath. Variegated Society Garlic is a clump forming herbaceous perennial growing 1-2' tall with white striped narrow grayish green leaves similar to traditional garlic or chives but a much more showy in appearance. The sweet smelling large clusters of lavender flowers have notes of hyacinth and are good to use as a cut flower. Hardy in zones 9-10.
