Sarracenia alata - Pale Pitcher

Carnivorous Plants

Sarracenia alata

Pale Pitcher

The Pale Pitcher Plants range is from eastern Texas across southern Louisiana to the extreme western edge of the Florida panhandle. S. alata emerges first with numerous pale creamy yellow flowers on thin stems reaching 9-10” in height during mid spring. Once the flowers are in full bloom the pitchers begin to emerge golden yellow in color reaching almost twice the height of the flowers. S. alata will mature with some maroon veining and may have a maroon underside of the lid. S. alata is a work horse, producing many pitchers in the spring right thru late fall. Hardy for us in Pennsylvania zone 6.
