Cyperus alternifolius, Umbrella plant, commonly known as a member of the sedge family, this Cyperus species of water plant is grown for it's showy firework - like sprays of fronds with palm like aesthetics. Cyperus alternifolius, also known as the Umbrella palm, is related to well known Papyrus, once used to make paper. Umbrella plant species is used quite often due to it's unique fronds and good manners, while growing 4-6' tall. Hardy in zones 8-11.
