Nelumbo sp. 'Empress'

Nelumbo 'Empress.'  A delicate flower graces this sacred lotus plant.  'Empress,' petals form a white bowl 9-12" with edges streaked with deep pink  as if painted by hand.  Flowers bloom singly and rise from 3-5'.   Some large blue-green leaves  20-36" lie on the water surface while rising leaves move gracefully in the wind.  All leaves provide cooling shade to the water below while increasing oxygenation.  Water droplets on waxy coated leaves reflect the suns rays!  Nelumbo 'Empress' is an excellent companion to water cannas and papyrus.
