Nymphaea x marliacea, 'Chromatella' For beauty and performance 'Chromatella' is an excellent hardy water lily. Bred by the famous French waterlily hybridizer, Joseph Bory Latour-Marliac, in the later 19thC - these lilies inspired Monet! Large cup shaped semi-double 7" flowers last up to 5 days from May to frost. Soft canary yellow petals surround a deep golden stamen. Lightly fragrant. Shiny green leaves up to 9" are mottled with copper color. The rhizome of the mature plant resembles a pineapple! A slow spreader in an earth bottom pool.
