Chasmanthium latifolium, Northern sea oats. Despite its name, Northern sea oats, has nothing to do with the sea. Chasmanthium latifolium grows well in a variety of soils with varying moisture levels. This 4' clumping warm season grass with boldly textured blue - green foliage is valued for its drooping green oat-like flower spikelets which turn bronze in the fall then lighten up into the winter. Northern sea oats is partially shade tolerant.
