Oenanthe javanica 'Flamingo'
Variegated water celery
Oenanthe javanica ‘Flamingo’ ,Variegated water celery, is hardy in zones 5-11. Variegated Water Celery grows 6-12" tall along the edge of the pond from running stems in sun to part shade, but not quite as rampant as the straight Water Celery. Water Celery gets its name from foliage that resembles the finely textured leaves of celery, except the Variegated form has pink edges. The aromatic leaves are edible and said to have a peppery celery-like flavor used in making flavored vinegars. This plant has invasive tendencies and should not be planted in natural areas.
